Puzzling Psychiatric Symptoms: Psychoanalytical Study of Tell- Tale Heart

The aim of present critical analysis is to explore the theme of unconscious conflict and fictional response in the short story The Tell-Tale- Heart written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1843. This short story is selected for Psychoanalytical analysis because it lends itself easily to the key takeaways of Freudian Psychoanalysis. The data in this research was text and technique of data collection was reading and taking notes. The results of this critical analysis indicate that the narrator because of his pathological behavior develops neurosis which brings him to a psychological death which is defined as constant fear of being alone and abandoned.
