Diversity of Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Fauna from Mandian, Abbottabad - Pakistan

Pakistan has diverse ants fauna but very limited work has done on this group so far. Based on the recently collected specimens of Formicidae from Government Postgraduate College for Women Madian-Abbottabad, fifteen (15) genera were reported in the sub-families Dorylinae, Dolichoderinae, Formicinae, Myrmicinae, and Pseudomyrmecinae. Formacicae was found the most abundant with 57% abundance. Among the genera, Gesomyrmex was the most abundant with 6 individuals, representing 18.1% of the total collected ants.
