Abstract

Title: The Blessings of Bayt al-Maqdis and the Perspectives of the People of the Book Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) occupies a unique and sacred position in the religious traditions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. This study explores the concept of the blessings (barakāt) of Bayt al-Maqdis from an Islamic perspective while examining the beliefs and viewpoints of the People of the Book regarding its religious, historical, and spiritual significance. The research analyzes relevant Qur'anic verses, Prophetic traditions, and classical Islamic scholarship to highlight the virtues of Bayt al-Maqdis as a blessed land and an important center of worship and divine revelation. It also compares these Islamic teachings with Jewish and Christian understandings of Jerusalem, emphasizing both shared beliefs and theological differences. By adopting a comparative and analytical approach, the study aims to promote a deeper understanding of the city's sacred status and its role in fostering interfaith dialogue. The findings suggest that although Islam, Judaism, and Christianity differ in their theological interpretations, they all recognize Bayt al-Maqdis as a place of exceptional spiritual importance. The study concludes that appreciating these perspectives contributes to greater academic understanding and encourages respectful engagement among followers of the Abrahamic faiths.
